Darrin has been highly sought after as a coach as well as an expert in the fitness field for the last 3 decades. He has had articles on exercise, nutrition and healthy cooking published in over 135 countries and was the associate editor for Canada’s largest fitness magazine.

He has trained over 1000 clients and was chosen over hundreds of fitness experts worldwide to co-create a popular United Kingdom based fitness video program for men over 40. Darrin was chosen to be the international spokesperson for the world leader in sports nutrition, Optimum Nutrition, to promote their line of supplements aimed at active people over 40.

Fitness Story

In his teens and early twenties, he was always ashamed of my skinny-fat physique. Despite working out, he was never able to get rid of the fat or build muscle.

Inspired by the birth of his son and the information now available on this new thing called “the internet”, he educated himself and started to transform his body and his life documenting everything along the way. This transformation took 7 years of trial and error and several certifications to learn more. Today he helps clients achieve the same goal in a matter of months!!

He has spent the last three decades working with people giving them the tools he discovered and refined over that time. By training people from morbidly obese to top fitness models, Darrin has developed a way to educate people on the science of food and exercise so that it is finally easy to understand, this way they not only achieve their goals but know how to maintain them for live.

“My mission is to help people over 40 look, feel and live their best. Since turning 40 myself, I realized there needs to be a different approach due to being older but also due to priorities changing. I realize that successful people over 40 have a certain lifestyle that they have earned and want to keep and enjoy.

I developed the Fitness Over 40 Lifestyle to have minimal impact on their already busy lives by educating them on how to spend less, but more effective, time in the gym and to understand how to eat at home and when dining out. All in a simple to understand format.

I want them to be able to live life without thinking they can’t eat something because they are on a “diet”. They have sacrificed enough for career and family over the years and it’s time for them to look great and live great too!”

My Approach To Being Fit Over 40

More than ever through things like social media there is so much misinformation out there regarding getting in shape. There are many “influencers” and celebrities trying to sell you the latest and greatest way or product to get in shape. Almost everything you come across is a load of BS, based on sales and not results!

The older I get, the more I realize that what got people into shape back in the day is the same thing people need today. A proper nutrition foundation and short effective goal specific workouts. Fads come and go but science and experience are here for good.

With nutrition I focus on a structured approach by eating exactly what the body needs to fuel it and create the desired aesthetic and eating mindfully when not eating the healthiest of foods so things don’t get out of control. This ensures the body is in a positive balance, stripping excess body fat and building muscle while still having the freedom to eat out and enjoy the foods you like.

When it comes to exercise I focus on mainly resistance training workouts to strengthen and tone the entire body. They generally take about 45 minutes and are performed 3 times a week. That’s less than 2.5hrs of gym time per week! The rest of the time is spent recovering from workouts and enjoying life!

If you are over 40 you have more important things to do with your time than wasting hours each day in the gym or on a treadmill. Sometimes less is more, and it sure is in this case!
